The site of a redundant airfield and barracks between Oakington and Longstanton - approx. 5 miles north-west of Cambridge.
The concept is a new eco-town, linked to Cambridge by the Guided bus and with some 10,000 dwellings, together with employment and all the facilities of a self-contained town. The site area is 427 hectares and the projected population and housing density is c 24,000 at an average density of 46 dwelling /hectare.
The project has been seriously delayed by the credit crunch, and affected by withdrawal of the A14 scheme. The developers are liaising with the Highways Agency.
