The team at Cambridge Past, Present & Future is delighted that we were chosen as one of the recipients of this year's event.

All money that we receive as a result of the race will be used to extend the reach of our environmental education programme – work that complements our efforts in championing green spaces and sustainable development in Cambridge and the surrounding area. Our counterpart charity, Cam Sight supports people in Cambridgeshire with sight loss. So the more sponsors each team gets, the more CambridgePPF and Cam Sight will benefit.

Please visit our respective websites to learn more about the fantastic work that each charity does.

Background of CambridgePPF and the Race

“Cambridge Past, Present & Future is delighted to be Joint Charity of the Year for the ‘Chariots of Fire 2012 race” said Robin Pellew, Chairman.  “The Chariots of Fire race" is a great Cambridge tradition.

Co-founded in 1992 by Bill Matthews, one of our members, it now attracts more than 300 teams of six persons.”

Bill added, “The course is about 1.7 miles long – starting at Queens’ Green, winding through the City and returning through Trinity, Clare and King’s colleges.  It’s great fun, but the main purpose is to raise money and we have generated more than £765,000 for some extremely deserving local causes over the last twenty years.”

Carolin Göhler, CEO of CambridgePPF, said: “We are thrilled that CambridgePPF will receive half of the 2012 sponsorship money – along with Camsight.

We plan to use any resulting funds to extend our award winning environmental education programme last year, 58 schools, or over 2500 pupils benefited from great days learning outdoors.  Countless families and healthy walkers enjoyed our extensive activities programme across all our great properties.  But we want to do more – extending our programme to less able people, disadvantaged children and people with learning difficulties.

We need your help and sponsorship to do this!
