Cllr John Hipkin, former Mayor of Cambridge and Independent Councillor, is petitioning for a public referendum on the further
development of Cambridge. The attitude of CambridgePPF is:
that traffic congestion is such a problem that promoting out-of-town
growth which is dependent on car commuting is going in the wrong direction
that securing the infrastructure including effective public transport
is essential before any development
that there is a serious shortage of affordable housing in and around
Cambridge for key workers
that referenda are a poor form of decision making as people vote for
emotional reasons without understanding the full facts.
