Current status
Outline planning approval granted in June 2005 following the signing of the Section 106 agreement.
A Design Brief for the site was agreed by South Cambridgeshire and the master developers, Gallaghers, following consent.
Currently over 700 homes are occupied with most remaining sites either in construction or near submission.
Two budget hotels - Travelodge and Premier Inn - are now open on the site.
Originally called Arbury Park, residents changed the name to Orchard Park in 2009.
A Community Council (the new name for a parish council) was formed in June 2009 and is very active.
An application to extend the primary school building to accommodate 210 pupils is shortly expected. The school has already increased its intake to a 1 Form Entry from September 2011.
An application for the local retail centre and 140 homes is expected to be submitted in January 2012. Some of the homes will be on the proposed site for the Historical Record Centre which will not now be built.
The Guided Bus opened in 2011, but following c £1m subsidy for Stagecoach, all other commercial bus services were withdrawn from inside Orchard Park.
A co-building scheme is being proposed for one of the remaining undeveloped parcels on the site.
