Volunteering - indoors and outdoors

Hinxton Mill Volunteers Leper Chapel - Stour Fair Lavender Lady

We welcome volunteers of all ages for many aspects of our work - from guides at our mills, events, Stourbridge Fair aids as well as office helpers to sustain our school and events programmes.

We are grateful for all the enthusiastic support which tremendously helps CambridgePPF as a local charity, please contact the office.

Bug Collecting

We have regular volunteering outdoors opportunities at Wandlebury Country Park (every third Saturday of the month 10.30 to 3.30; meet at the notice board at the main visitor car park) There are also opportunities at the Coton Countryside Reserve (at agreed times), please contact the Head Ranger.

Volunteering outdoors is a great opportunity to enjoy and carry out practical work, which benefits wildlife, people and wider countryside access. Learn more about the management of chalk grassland, woodland, farmed environment and practical wildlife conservation within the countryside close to the urban fringe. For keen volunteers we offer a certification of attendance.

Volunteers at Coton Countryside Reserve

For work managing meadows, hedges, woodland and paths etc, we provide tools and necessary training. For any outdoor work or walk, we recommend that you have an up to date tetanus jab and wear suitable sturdy footwear and clothing and bring water proofs - in summer sun hat and cream! If you are under 16 years of age, please bring a guardian.
For volunteering events lasting a day - please bring a packed lunch and drink.

Previous experience is not necessary - give our Head Ranger a ring and come and give it a try

Depending on season and current special projects - we can arrange practical events for specific groups. These activities can be used for team building exercises, learning and enjoying more about your local environment and countryside.

At times our healthy walks programme requires guides and helpers, too. Everyone is welcome.
