Since July last year the car park at our Coton Countryside Reserve has been temporarily closed due to an illegal break-in by travellers. Thanks to some generous donations from local supporters we have raised the funds needed to be able to re-open the car park.

Work was undertaken in the early spring which means that the car park has now re-opened and will be open from dawn to dusk and there will be a new height barrier to restrict access to cars/SUVs. The car park will provide 8 parking spaces on a tarmac area close to the entrance, with a larger overflow area that can be opened for events, if necessary.

A disabled parking space has been created on the road verge close to the farm entrance, as this allows access directly to the spine path for wheelchair users.

A shallow seasonal wetland has been created near the car park, to provide additional habitat.

Visitors to the reserve will have seen that there have been other measures put in place over the winter to prevent illegal access, including a new gate on the track leading to Manor Field. It is unfortunate that we have to spend our funds in this way.

Do visit the Reserve to see these works or join one of the forthcoming walks around the area which include parts of the Reserve. These are free events, look on our What's On page for dates and more information.
