The exterior of Hinxton Watermill can be visited at any time.

You can see inside the mill and see the mill in action at one of our open days on six summer Sundays between May and October, check our What's On/Events for more information.

Groups visits can also be arranged at other times, please get in touch to enquire.

There are two picnic tables to enjoy this lovely location and a riverside walk.

There are no toilets.

The ground floor of the mill is accessible for wheelchairs. Access to the first floor is by a steep wooden ladder.

Directions and Transport

Hinxton Mill can be found in Mill Lane, Hinxton CB10 1RD (off the High Street). The village of Hinxton is 9 miles south of Cambridge.

You can park on Mill Lane and use the footpath, which is an unpaved surface to the mill. There are some lovely walks around the Mill area.

You can reach Hinxton from Cambridge by using the Stagecoach Citi 7 bus service. By rail you can catch a train to Whittlesford Parkway, from where there is a walk or cycle of 3km or catch a train to Great Chesterford and walk/cycle for 3.5km.  There are also bus services to Ickleton and Duxford from where it is possible to walk to the mill. The Mill is located on Sustrans Cycle Route 11 which you can follow from Cambridge (approx 15km).
